If you're planning a destination wedding, I assume that you are already the type of person whom knows how to have a good time. So why limit the fun to only one day?! Chauncy and Dan planned it perfectly. After their rehearsal in the morning, they planned a beach party for all of their guests to come and attend the day before their actual wedding, and it was a hit! They had yummy food and drinks, beach games, and a wonderful relaxing, ocean-front deck for everyone to enjoy.

I was their wedding videographer for the actual wedding (Rich Lander was the photographer, who is amazing!), but obviously couldn't help but snap some fun pictures to capture their rehearsal/ beach party day since they were so kind to invite and include me in all of the festivities! Can everyone have destination weddings so the fun continues all weekend like this? :)

PS: If anyone needs a wedding coordinator in the Laguna area, Jenna is your girl! She is on top of the planning and executes everything so perfectly. Plus, she's super fun!

Kelley & Jay

RPImagery-7632.jpg

It's pretty neat to grow up with someone and then get to document their love story. My cousin Jay found the most darling little lady, Kelley, and is making her his wife this September and I am so ecstatic for their wedding!

Since Jay is a train engineer, I obviously had to throw them on some abandoned railroad tracks for a couple of photos. After a couple of minutes shooting around the trains, Jay mentioned, "We don't have to do ALL of our photos here, trains aren't my LIFE you know..." Um, yes Jay, yes, they are. Every family gathering growing up, Jay had his lego trains, automatic train toys, any kind of train toy you can think of basically. A new one every time, if I remember right. I literally can still hear him chugging around saying "choo choo" as a kid. Fast forward to present day, driving down the gorge at their photo shoot, Jay also pointed out several different train cars that were carrying this or hauling that, and then spotted some tracks across the river that were part of some of his train routes. So yes, Jay, when I see a train I basically think of you! But such a cool job, am I right?! I think it's so badass that my 29 year old cousin drives trains for a living.

Okay, let's move on to how darling Kelley is. She is so sweet, bashful, and a little quiet at first. But once you get to know her, she is so spunky and full of life, and is constantly putting a huge grin on Jay's face, which I love! They flirt, they laugh, they have so much respect for each other, and it's very visible to me how much they truly bring out the best in each other.

YOU GUYS WERE MADE FOR EACH OTHER. I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!!
Thank you for including me in this incredibly special time of your lives. Kelley, you are going to be make the most stunning bride and Jay, I can't believe I get to capture your wedding day! Love you guys.

Courtney & Justin

RPImagery-5124.jpg

Courtney and Justin asked if it would be okay to take me out to their family property (which happens to be a private airstrip for the pilots in the family) tucked away in Brush Prairie right on the river. Um, yes please! When I arrived, I am pretty sure my jaw dropped. It is a hidden gem!
They are the cutest little family with their two pups, who are actual best friends. We had a great time frolicking around their property and playing with the pups on a beautiful April evening - clearly lucked out with the weather.

What I love about Courtney and Justin is how easy their love for each other is. They speak to each other so kindly, they flirt, they hold hands and find so much joy just walking through a field and watching their pups run around. Jason Aldean's "You make it easy" song was literally stuck in my head throughout their shoot because I kept thinking how easy their love truly comes. "You're my sunshine in the darkest days, my better half, my saving grace, you make me who I want to be... you make it easy." Darius Rucker's "Need you more" song was also stuck in my head, but that's a whole other story regarding my tech-savvy self ;)

Courtney and Justin, I love how organic your love is, I love how you both enjoy the simple things, I loved frolicking around your gorgeous property with your pups, I loved learning more about your love story and seeing where Justin proposed, and I just love how sweet of humans the both of you truly are!! I am beyond ecstatic to get to capture your wedding day in a few months!

Erik & Shay

RPImagery-1083.jpg

I get to meet a lot of really awesome people through this profession, and get to do a lot of really neat things... but how cool is it that I get to capture my own brother's engagement session?
Erik and Shay met 4 or so years back when they were both camp counselors at Lake Metigoshi in North Dakota. I love that my brother is so passionate about his faith, is so good with kids, and appreciates the simple things in life. I love even more that he found a girl that is passionate about the same things, and is even more passionate about her undying love for my brother.
They truly compliment and understand each other so well. They are always laughing together, and building each other up through both words and actions, it's so inspiring!
They came to visit me in Seattle where we got to do a few photos, and then we took it one step further, to the family vacation in Arizona, where we did another portion of their engagement session, and it was so fun!

They kept insisting on including this sign, with their date and hashtag. If you know me, you know that I do not typically like to include any props in photos, but rather capture the couple as is. I kept knocking down their "sign" idea and told them to just not do it. And finally, Shay was like "I get you don't like the idea, but can we just do one photo with it?" Trying not to roll my eyes, I hesitantly agreed to do one... and then quickly learned the method behind their madness ;) Such a clever and special way to surprise me! Scroll down halfway through the pics to see what I'm talking about.

Erik and Shay, I love you guys both so much and am so thankful you two found each other. I pray that you continue to laugh together, support each other, and love each other as much as I have witnessed throughout your relationship thus far. Thank you for having your sis capture this special time in your lives!!! Can't wait to be a part of it all next summer!

Honduras // April 2018

RPImagery-1787.jpg

This was my 4th trip to Honduras with Humanity and Hope and once again, I came back to reality with a bursting heart full of love for the people in these villages that we serve, as well as for the new friends I got to serve alongside with this trip. We had an amazing group. I feel like I say that every time, but it's always true! There's something about joining up with other people from around the world that share the same passion for serving God by loving others. We had an almost ALL-female trip this time around, but luckily we were graced with Tyson's awesome presence to detour it from being a sorority slumber party, as well as some not-too-hard-on-the-eyes security guards, always keeping us safe, as well ;)
This group truly was saturated with talented, intelligent, driven, kind, and compassionate individuals and I feel so grateful to have met and gotten to know each one of them!

Although a shorter trip than normal, we still got to visit all three villages and even got more quality time with them than usual, as our focus was to get to know their needs and priorities clearer and make sure we are serving them in ways that are actually achieving sustainable and prosperous change.

I feel like I am better at speaking through imagery than I am with words, so I will attempt to keep these  summaries of each village brief, then let the photos do the talking :)

[La Cuchilla] We just started working in this village about 6 months ago. They were once referred to as "The abandoned hole" because nobody took the time to notice them. A few different nonprofit organizations even came through once or twice throughout the years, offering to help but never returning. Everyone abandoned them. Not us! They say that they prayed and prayed for some kind of help for their community, and then God led us directly to them. It took time to earn their trust and for them to believe that we truly cared about them, though. To see the difference from when I was there 5 months ago to now, is amazing! This village has some of the poorest living conditions I have ever seen, yet they remain so united as a community, so joyful, and so excited about the opportunity to work. It's so exciting to start providing them jobs within their own village! Tucked away, secluded, in the middle of a luscious jungle, La Cuchilla is one of the most beautiful places I've seen, and it only grows more beautiful once you meet the people that reside there.  It was fun to see my friend Chanel reunite with her beloved Kendra, seeing how much progress the men have made in the fields, to see Adan's (leader of the men) pride and excitement of what they had accomplished, and to watch Danica teach the women a trade of making jewelry. Two specific highlights for me were watching Tyson play with the boys in the tree. These 5 little boys were having the time of their lives climbing up and down the tree, belly laughing as they tossed fruit back and forth to each other. Ah, the simple joys in life. Another highlight was simply watching Adan with his son. I had only gotten to witness him being a bad-ass worker in the fields and constantly striving to provide for his family, so it was a treat to see him full circle - WITH his family, being such a good father to his sweet little son.

[Remolino] is one of the more developed villages now as we have provided them clean water, secondary education opportunities, and jobs ("projects") for both the men and women. However, the demand for jobs is greater than the supply currently, so the people of the village are trading off days and several of them are only getting to work a few days a week, which is hardly enough to support their families, even at $6/day. That's why it was really exciting to visit and pray over a large piece of land that we are hoping to acquire to start planting and creating more jobs for the men. The kids in this village are always a bit timid at first here, but warm up to us by the end of the day and start following us around everywhere, and I can't get enough of their beautiful faces! Some personal highlights from this village were getting to see Owen (born with a disorder but constantly progressing every time I see him), and spending time with my friend Wendy, who seemed to be having a rough week but also seemed delighted when she saw me. She is a sweetheart, and her son is my future photography assistant!

[La Coroza] is colorful, bright, and cheerful. Always. They are probably the most developed village that we have been serving, and they don't let a day go by without thanking God for it either. When we were doing our assessments, they always said that first thing when they wake up in the morning, at 4am before they start working, is get on their knees and thank God. The kids skip around with so much joy. They literally skip. They hardly run or walk anywhere, they are always skipping and laughing and smiling. It's been a joy to witness a positive personality change in Isis in particular, a little girl with down syndrome, over my visits in the last year. Kids in the village didn't really give her the time of the day, she seemed sad, and scared of people, and now the kids are all including her in everything they do and she is smiling, laughing, and engages with all of us. Some other personal highlights from this village include reuniting with my favorite little girl, Yolani, whom is so sweet, smart, and endearing. At 10 years old, she is so motherly to all of the younger kids in the village, and I am just so fond of her little heart! Another highlight was the worship service we had in the village, which is always a highlight. To witness these people praising God in their little community is such a wonderful thing! Particularly this time, I watched little Gideon (orange romper) sway to the music with Landre, and worship her little heart out to an upbeat worship song. And then it literally brought tears to my eyes to watch her close her little eyes as the song shifted to a slower melody, and she was truly in her element with God. (see photos below!)

On the last day, we got up early before all of our flights and went to surprise La Cuchilla with donuts and orange juice. The sun just began rising over the palms, and the men in the fields were surprised to see us, and overjoyed with the treat. We got to deliver the remaining donuts to the women and children in the village, as well as deliver the good news that we will be starting the first ever women's project (chicken coop) in La Cuchilla the following week! Such a great way to end our trip.

My main highlight from this whole trip though was how much all three villages truly felt like family to me. They remember me, they call me by name, they laugh and joke with me, and they hug me like they never want to let go. As I left La Coroza hugging my sweet little friend, Yolani, goodbye, I told her I would see her again soon. This time, she asked "How soon? Last time was way too long."
You simply can't visit these villages, and never go back. They leave an imprint on your heart, and it's quite clear that we leave one on theirs as well. I'll be back very soon! Join me?
CHECK OUT MY HIGHLIGHT FILM AT THE END OF THIS POST.
YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO SAY NO ;)

Joey & Whitney - Portland, OR

RPImagery-8201.jpg

I've been friends with Whit and Joe for over 5 years. I have witnessed many of their ups and downs, documented their love (by making them model for me on several accounts), celebrated many birthdays with them, and have watched their flirty crushes develop into a deep, beautiful love over the years.

What I love about Joey and Whitney is that they are a couple that truly brings out the best in one another, and in turn, brings so much joy to everyone else around them. Joey comes off a bit timid when you first meet him, but once you get to know him, he is funny as hell, down-to-earth, "life of the party" type of guy. Whitney is constantly outgoing, energetic, and friendly to those around her. She has the biggest heart, is encouraging and uplifting to others, and gives, gives, gives. She is a true light to those around her, and it is evident that Joey recognizes this. The way he looks at her like she is the only person in the entire room completely melts my heart. Together, they have a contagious type of charisma that people crave to be around.

Every moment of their wedding day was pure bliss. Whitney's bridesmaids were all rockstars who constantly made sure everything was flawless throughout the day. The Benson was the perfect venue and the staff were incredible - working hard to create the most magical setting. Their family had the most sentimental words for the newlyweds, and everyone toasted to their happiness, and danced the night away.

And....
THEY ARE EXPECTING!!! Whit and Joe found out shortly before their wedding day that they are expecting, and I couldn't be more thrilled for them! They are going to be such wonderful parents. During their reception, Whitney made the announcement to all of their friends and family that they have a baby on the way, and then surprised Joey by sharing that their cake cutting would actually be a gender reveal. The crowd went wild as they sliced into their wedding cake, revealing a bright, pretty, pink filling. There's not many things that could beat the excitement of that moment, but some of my other favorite moments of the day included: Whitney getting ready for her wedding day in the complete tranquility of their new, beautiful home that they just purchased as a couple. Whitney's bridesmaids enthusiastically watching their first look from the hotel window across the street. Joey seeing his bride for the first time on their wedding day. The venue coordinator giving Joey and Whitney a private moment to glimpse into their wedding reception room and Joey leading Whitney into a romantic slow dance. They were the only two in the room and the DJ turned on sounds of Billie Holiday in the background. I loved having Joey and Whitney to myself later on, shortly after they signed their marriage license, frolicking around the lit up night scene of downtown Portland. My last favorite moment of the day was watching Whitney, 10 weeks pregnant, round up the troops and lead everyone on the dance floor to "Wobble baby." Haha I love her!

Their wedding day was a true reflection of them as a couple, and every moment, start to finish, was truly so special! I admire their love, blessed to call them friends, and I am honored to have been a part of their wedding day. Whit and Joe- I can't thank you guys enough for choosing me to document this new chapter of your life, for including me in a huge part of your love story, and for your true friendship over the years. I adore the two of you together and am so excited to see all of the adventures and joy that God has in store for you, as a couple, and as a family!! Love you guys!

Welcome Home Luke

Military Homecoming

There is not much more special in life than a reunion with the one you love. I have been capturing all of the greatest moments of Kaylin and Luke's life since they met... but I tell ya, these military homecomings top everything. Usually we have their girls in tote with us for the big reunion and those moments are so sweet, too, of them getting to see their dad for the first time in 7, 8, sometimes 9 months. This time was a little different, and bit more romantic for them, since we were kid-less this time, and the reunion was just for Kaylin and Luke.

Their marriage of 7 years is even more incredible as their love on their wedding day. It's been an honor to watch them grow as a couple, grow their family, grow in their faith, grow in their careers, grow as a couple, and do it all with God at the center. The amount of months they spend a part because of Luke's job in the marines in unfathomable to me, yet they handle it with so much grace. I have so much admiration for these two.
I love getting to capture these homecomings for them. The reunion is so incredibly special each and every time. I am grateful for how amazing of a husband Luke is to my best friend, and I am even more grateful that he is back safely and in his wife's loving arms. Welcome Home Luke, thank you for your service and you are so, so loved!

Here is a little throwback for fun of another special homecoming I captured of them when Luke came home from a different deployment a few years ago:

It's been 8 months since Kaylin has seen her husband and there have been so many moments, memories, and growth that daddy hasn't been present for, for daughters Gracen (3) and Avery (14 Months). Welcoming husband and daddy home from deployment was such an emotional and touching moment. "Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things." 1 Corinthians 13:7 The Debiak family is a true testament to this. They are some of the strongest and most loving people I know. I wish everyone could experience a military homecoming... because I think a lot of people take our freedom for granted. What these men (and women) are doing for us, not only laying down their lives for us, but leaving their loved ones and missing out on so much life with their spouses and babies... missing first steps, first days of school, first words, birthdays, holidays, sometimes even the births of their children. The ultimate sacrifice they make for us is nothing to take for granted. Luke, thank you for all that you do. Thank you for your service and for your sacrifice for us, I am so humbled and grateful. Kaylin, you are one badass mother and wife, and I want to be just like you when I grow up! ;) Seriously though. Love you guys.

Alyssa & Aaron

RPImagery-7565.jpg

I love how outdoorsy Alyssa and Aaron are. They had their favorite spot up in the mountains they wanted to go for their engagement shoot, and I'm sure glad we did. The rain went away for the afternoon, and left the most beautiful fog rolling through for us. I loved frolicking around the woods and this cute spot by the river with these two.

They are so fun, flirty, and completely in love. And Lord knows I love a couple that is down for adventure :) I am so excited for their wedding day this summer in good ole Eatonville, WA!

Mike & Taylor

RPImagery-2276b.jpg

I met Mike in 2008, freshman year of college. With his gentleman demeanor, quirky humor, and contagious smile, it was hard not to become immediate friends with him. We had a very large group of friends that remained throughout all 4 years of college, but Mike was the one guy that everyone always wanted to be around. I got to witness many of his crushes and flings, and I always wondered what lucky girl he would end up with. She's have to be incredibly special!

Taylor... is PERFECT for Mike. They compliment each other in so many ways, and are so good together. They are both quirky, loving, friendly, and fun! Once meeting Taylor, I truly couldn't imagine a more perfect girl for Mike. Their love story is sweet in the way that Mike was in heavy but nonchalant pursuit of Taylor once he laid eyes on her, and once their mutual friend, Chelsea, slowly started lining up ways for Mike and Taylor to casually be together in the same room/car, Taylor quickly and unexpectedly fell for Mike as well.

Their wedding day was not only beautiful, but so fun! Every one of their friends and family members are so genuine, loving, and so supportive of Mike and Taylor, and they all know how to have a good time. The Union Station in Tacoma fell nothing short of a stunning venue for them to say "I do." Although, this may have been the only wedding I have ever had random street walkers threaten the groomsmen and try to fight!!!! An interested memory of the day, to say the least ;) Good 'ole Tacoma, Washington.

A couple of my favorite moments of the day were how relaxed the entire morning of getting ready was (best bridesmaid tribe ever - they were on top of everything!), Mike and Taylor's first look, how composed and awesome the whole bridal  party was when we had those unexpected intruders, Taylor's dad seeing her for the first time, Mike and Taylor immediately updating their facebook status maybe 30 seconds after leaving their ceremony (ha! I love them!), their first dance in the middle of the room with everyone surrounding them, and just the entire reception being a complete blast! I didn't want to leave, myself!

Mike and Taylor, it truly means the world to me that you chose me to capture your wedding day. I was completely honored to not only be there, but to also have gotten to create lasting memories for you guys to always remember this day with! I know this next chapter of your lives together will be the best adventure yet. I love you both!

Kate & Yadder

RPImagery-1595.jpg

I've known Kate for over 5 years now, since she was a little baby freshman in high school. I got to help coach her cheer, mentor her in photography, be her boss, be her friend, and overall get to watch her develop into a wonderful young lady. Through all of the years knowing her, and the 40+ hour road trips and work vacations we've been on together, I feel like I've gotten to know her heart and know her personality pretty darn well. This is why, meeting Yadder, just completely made me smile. They just make sense. Yadder is the male version of Kate. They are goofy, fun, love the Lord, love their friends, appreciate art, have stellar style, and have more swag than Jay-Z and Beyonce. They bring out the best in each other, are their complete selves around each other, and truly exude so much joy together.

I loved getting to capture these two! And what better day to share all of my favorites from their shoot than this girls' 20th birthday?! I can't believe you're 20 Katelyn... Welcome to the twenties, I am so excited to continue to watch you grow and see all of the joy and adventure that life brings you this year and years to come. Happy birthday, love you!

Honduras // November 2017

RPImagery-9346.jpg

This was my third time in 9 months visiting the remote villages of Remolino and La Coroza in Honduras. Obviously they have touched my heart in so many ways, that I can't get enough and keep going back for more! I mean... look at these sweet faces.
What was different about this trip was that the team that I go with, Humanity and Hope, is starting to help a new village from ground up, so we got to meet and start building relationships with the wonderful people in the village of La Cuchilla.
They have no clean water, no electricity, many of them don't have a real roof over their head, no jobs, and no education. Yet they still smile, and still welcome us with open arms.
Visiting La Cuchilla was all around eye-opening, heart-breaking, and inspiring at the same time. The whole village only has this one tiny well that the woman manually pull water up from, which is not even filtered or truly clean drinking water. Imagine what a safe and clean water tower would do for them? Also, what really struck was me that this one young man, who has started working in the first job project in the fields, was so passionate and excited about having a job and helping his tiny village. It was pouring down rain when we arrived, he was out working in the field, and he was shocked that we showed up to visit, with the heavy rain fall. He was out there working so hard in it, and he couldn't believe we showed up in a bus, with umbrellas and amenities, to visit him
His words to us were of so much gratitude and grace, and he introduced us to the rest of the men working, and then prayed over all of us. It was one of my favorite moments of this trip.

Welcome to La Cuchilla:

In Remolino, we re-visited the projects and the H&H board members on our trip had their annual meeting with the leaders in the village to see how things are going and prioritize future needs. One of my favorite moments in Remolino was seeing Owen. I met Owen in February, but learned that a few months prior- a fellow H&H friend, Kahlila (an occupational therapist), had met Owen and assessed his situation. He was born with a disability that didn't allow him to develop fine motor skills; he was unable to even hold his head up or crawl at 6 months old. Living in a remote village, and being the youngest of 7 or 8 children, him nor his mom had access or opportunity to the necessary tools that could help him develop properly, despite his condition. When I first met him in February, other members of my group who had met him prior were brought to tears at the site of him walking with his mom helping him. A true miracle. Kahlila had spent many hours drawing out a plan of exercises for his mom to do with him back in December 2016... and what do you know, less than a year later - I got to meet the infamous Kahlila, I witnessed a miracle once again, and little Owen is walking on his own. He is the shyest, but sweetest little boy. He is my absolute favorite to capture, his smile is infectious, and he truly is a miracle. Here is a photo of him from back in February and a few photos from him this November trip:

We began our day in Remolino by praying over one of the men in the village who is really ill. We then checked out some of the projects, and the boys got their regular haircuts from Ronnie, also a fan favorite - he's so full of life and always smiling. And he really loves giving those "fresh fades."  We also taught some of the women in the village how to make a bracelet, that you can read the story behind and purchase here
We also all wore our Gen-Us shirts all day, which you can purchase here. Both of these are part of the "Purchase with Purpose" campaign going on right now, and I encourage you all to make a simple purchase - where all of the proceeds go into helping the people you see pictured in this blog post.

Remolino:

Isn't there an evident visual difference between La Cuchilla, the village we are starting out in, and this village of La Coroza? However, the one thing that is the same between the two villages currently is the smiles on their faces and hope in their eyes. The connection between these two villages is pretty neat too, because Emerita, the female leader of this village - is the one that connected us (Humanity and Hope) to the other village in need, La Cuchilla. True example of this radical change having a domino effect... we are helping and changing the lives of those who have the hearts to go out and want to do the same. It's a pretty exciting time for La Coroza, as they are about to get electricity in their village, too! That is what all of the wood piles are that the children are playing on in these photos. So exciting! And so awesome to witness the process.

La Coroza:

I'll leave you with this: If these photos alone don't inspire you to want to be a part of this story, talk to me. I can only fit so much into a blog post, so I'd love to share more with you in person! Come on a trip with us, donate, purchase with a purpose for gifts this Christmas.
Be generous, live a generous lifestyle, and help make the world just a little brighter :)

Chris & Courtney

RPImagery-6938.jpg

Chris and Courtney got married in the beautiful lands of Napa Valley, CA on a not-so-sunny, but still lovely Fall day. They said their vows in the cutest little Catholic Chapel, Holy Family Mission, and celebrated the night away afterwards at Vintner’s Golf Club with their friends and family.

There were so many special details and people included in their day. Courtney wore the same wedding dress that both her mother and grandmother wore for their weddings. Courtney's dad passed away a few years ago, and Courtney's mother gave her meaningful gifts, including her dad's handkerchief. Her two grandmothers were SO excited about the special hanger they made for Courtney, with special lace. Courtney's own brother did her makeup, which was so awesome and fun to watch all morning! They also did something a little un-traditional with their wedding day, and did not have a bridal party. I love how much that made their day even more just about them, though. It was fitting.

Despite the rain, unexpected crazy traffic, and a few other hiccups, it was still the most perfect day for these two! Their family and friends sure know how to party. The celebration through the night was definitely my favorite part of their whole wedding day! These people know how to get down and have good time.

Chris and Courtney, thank you so much for choosing me to capture one of the best days of your lives. It was truly an honor to capture so many dear moments for you guys and your family. Much love!

Ashley

RPImagery-4668.jpg

Ashley is such a beauty inside and out, I loved the time I got to spend with her capturing her senior portraits! It was extra special because I got to know her as a little freshman when I coached her high school cheer squad, and it was surreal now taking her SENIOR photos! What.. where does time go? I had to reminisce on some of the cheer photos I have gotten to take of her over the last 4 years... Sorry Ash ;)

This girl is spunky, stylish, sweet, hilarious, and genuine. I just adore her! Can you tell by the amount of photos I published on this blog post?! I especially love that she was down to adventure out to the WA side of the gorge on a sunny fall day we had in October.

Does it get any better than fall colors, fur coats, and sunsets? I think not.

Ashley ~ you are the best, thanks for being such a blast and also for inspiring me to be more stylish ;)

Clark Family

RPImagery-5620.jpg

Ashton and Aysha have a special place in my heart because their backyard wedding 2 years ago was one of my favorite weddings of all time. It truly was a very special and very fun day!
I loved getting to capture their wedding in both photos and video, their maternity photos shortly after, and now we have little Amiyah, who I got to capture when she was 8 months old, and now at 13 months old. I love this little family and it truly makes my heart happy to get to be a part of and capture so many precious moments in their lives.

And how cute is little Amiyah? She is stylin', she is sassy, she is independent, funny, and so sweet. All at only 13 months! I can't wait to watch her grow over the years and capture more of her little personality! But don't grow up too fast, sweet girl. Ashton and Aysha - LOVE YOU GUYS!

It's not often you get to be good friends with the competition. However, in this particular industry, it's not totally out of the ordinary. Thankfully I have a very dear photographer friend in Eastern, Washington who is always down to bounce ideas off of each other, compare techniques, ask questions, and in this case - share weddings.
She is with child and due very soon, so she asked if I could take over one of her weddings for her in beautiful Chelan, WA. I am SO thankful for this opportunity, because Scott and Kyla turned out to be some of the most awesome people ever and I now consider them friends.

Scott and Kyla are from Tacoma, WA but opted for a "semi-destination" Chelan wedding for their friends and family to get to on vacation for and get away. They got married at Karma Vineyards, overlooking the valley during the ceremony, and tucked inside a romantic "wine cave" for the reception. It was so lovely!

It was a special family affair, their 2 sons were a huge part of the day, both walking down the aisle with them in the bridal party and even giving toasts! I especially loved how their dinner was a classy rendition of family-style, with the long beautiful dining tables and fine, delicious food being passed around the table. The food, the wine, the toasting, the dessert table, the dancing - I would say the reception was one of my personal favorite parts of the day. It was truly a celebration of love.

Although a close second favorite part of the day was definitely the parting of the skies and the rainbow that appeared as Kyla walked down the aisle towards her new husband. It had been sprinkling throughout the day, but everyone was hopeful it would stop by ceremony time. God even blessed us with a rainbow during the 15 minutes of the day that Scott and Kyla said their actual vows! Right as the guests made their way down to the wine cave, it started raining again, and the rest of the evening was spent all together in the wine cave anyways!

Scott and Kyla, although my friend Hillary would have done such a beautiful job capturing your wedding photos too, I am so, SO thankful that I got to meet you guys and capture this day for you. It was an honor, and I completely adore you two and your boys! Congratulations!

Mike & Sharon

I've known Mike and Sharon for about 5 years now and they are truly two of my favorite people, very dear friends... and are two people destined to be together.
I have gotten to know them, their kids, and their friends and family very well over the last couple of years, and I feel so fortunate to have them in my life, so you can imagine my excitement to get to capture this day (long-in-the-making) for them!

The blending of two families can be a very beautiful thing, but what do you call it then when the two families have already been beautifully blended? I think this is what made the day so incredibly special. To get to see how loved Mike is by Sharon's kids, Mick and Melissa. To see how cherished Sharon is by Mike's son Trav, and his wife Tonicha. To witness the love Sharon's mother-in-law has for Mike. Both having gone through so much life and many hardships individually, it is pretty wonderful to see God finally bring these two together. And the support and love that they have surrounding them, amongst both their friends and family, is so evident in their lives, and it was so perfectly reflected throughout this entire day.

They couldn't have chosen a more perfect venue to embark on this new chapter of their lives together at! The Rogue River Lodge in Trail, OR is a hidden gem. Located right on the Rogue River, it is so peaceful and beautiful, you can't help but feel the Lord's presence there.

Reflecting back on this day, there were so many special moments. Everyone important to them poured so much love into preparing for this day... the florals, decor, hair and makeup, BBQing and camping the whole weekend, etc, etc. It was truly a labor of love.

Some fun pics from rehearsal day:

Some of my favorite moments from their wedding day include: Their first look (so intimate and sweet!), Sharon's mom walking down the aisle waving to everyone with tears in her eyes during the ceremony, the ceremony itself (it was perfectly them), Mike and Sharon dancing with all of their kids (it was a beautiful family moment!), Mike and Sharon personally handing out champagne to all of their guests before toasts, Sharon's parents sharing a very special anniversary dance, the boats going down the river hooting and hollering celebrating with us throughout the day, and so much more.

Mike and Sharon, I hope you guys know how much you mean to me and how truly special it was for me to capture this day for you. I admire you both as individuals, and adore the love you two share. It is raw, it is tender, enduring, special, and so beautiful.

Congratulations Mr. and Mrs. Farrell, I love you guys!

Sweet Little Higgi Fam

I've spent the last 4 days in Warsaw, Indiana and couldn't have wrapped up the trip any better than with a little morning family photoshoot with this sweet family before church.

Ben has become a good friend of mine in the last year, and his parents are just the sweetest! They have a beautiful lake house on Winona Lake and after spending some time there over the weekend, I witnessed all of the cute little details that give their home so much character, the relaxing lakeside vibes, and all of the love in that household... but I noticed not many family photos in the house. Knowing just how family-orientated they are, I took it upon myself to make sure we got some family photos before I left. I also rarely ever get to do family portrait sessions anymore, so it was so much fun!

Even Ben's brother, Diamond, made it into some shots ;) ...Naturally.

Also-- Indiana is so beautiful in the fall! What a treat it was to get to spend an early October weekend there.

Road Trip to Banff, Alberta

I am so fortunate to have such awesome, talented assistants who also share the same passion for outdoor exploring and epic adventures that I do. So that when we book a wedding in the middle of nowhere Idaho (Bonners Ferry), we make a little road trip adventure out of it for good measure... throw a little camping, hiking, and boating in there - WORTH IT.
I'll never turn down a road trip, especially if it involves driving through the gorge.

Ellie is my full-time assistant this year and I absolutely adore her. She has a sweet, quiet, kinder spirit but is such a badass undercover. She shows up with all of the camping gear and all of the outdoor skills. Katelyn has been with me for a couple of years working part time, and she is always full of joy and can rap any song you ask her to. I can always count on her to show up with good vibes all around, every time.

We drove a straight 12 hours from Portland, OR to Banff National Park in Alberta, BC with  stopping only a handful of times for potty breaks and snacks. Go us! Our jaws literally dropped as we turned around the first corner and witnessed the majestic mountains, as we approached Banff National Park on the last home stretch. But the sun was setting, and we were trying to avoid setting up camp in the pitch black, so we only stopped for a few photo opportunities and opted for just a few photos out the window as we trekked on.

We spent 2.5 days hiking around and exploring the National Park, making sure to see all of the good spots. Peyto Lake, Two Jack Lake, Lake Louise, Lake Moraine, The Historic Cave and Basin, and the Upper Hot Springs were some of our classic favorites, just to name a few. We also had a lovely rooftop dinner, enjoyed some beers in a downtown dive on a rainy afternoon, and enjoyed making coffee and eggs in the morning once we finally got our mini camping stove working back at our Two Jack Lake camp site.

Our 3rd day, we packed up and drove another 5 hours to Bonners Ferry, Idaho. We filmed a lovely backyard wedding all day the following day and stayed in the cutest, little, small town, family owned lodge (Log Inn at Bonners Ferry) for 2 nights. Seriously the cutest. I would go back to middle of no where, Bonners Ferry, Idaho, again just so I could stay there again. So, so darling. Shout out Katelyn, too, for keeping us fit on our trip and giving us personal workouts in our little lodge room.

Since neither of my girls had ever spent time in one of my favorite places on Earth, Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, I saved a day to pit-stop and explore the town on our way back home. We made friends with some kind gentleman with a boat, and gave Ellie her first time (ever in her life) experience on a boat. There were a lot of firsts on this trip :) We shopped downtown that evening, had a fabulous dinner, and went back to what we thought was going to be another lodge hotel, but found out we were basically back to camping in our "glorified camping" 2 bunk hut situation. It was actually so cute that I didn't care. It even had an adorable little porch swing. No complaints.

We saw so many beautiful places and had so many different experiences in a matter of only 5 days. After spending 120 hours straight with you girls, and at least 30 hours of those being in a car with you, I can honestly say I still love you both dearly ;)
Katelyn and Ellie, Thank you for always doing stellar work for me, but more importantly, for always be willing and excited to enjoy life with me.

Until next time Banff... we love you.
